Men's Soccer's Thayer Tabbed as UAA Athlete of the Week - Offense
09/05/07
New York University senior midfielder and co-captain Jeritt Thayer earned the first University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Soccer Player of the Week - Offense award after a stellar showing last weekend.
The reigning UAA Player of the Year and a 2006 All-American, Thayer tallied all three goals as the Violets went 1-1 at the season-opening Stevens Institute of Technology College Classic, held Sept. 1-2.
Thayer shined in his season debut, tickling the twine twice in a 2-1, come-from-behind victory over Elizabethtown College on Sept. 1. He also netted NYU's only goal in a 2-1 loss to Stevens Tech.
Thayer earned Second Team National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Third Team d3kicks.com All-America accolades last fall, becoming the first Violet men's soccer All-American in 37 years.
Ranked #15 by d3kicks.com and #25 in the NSCAA/adidas Division III poll, NYU returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 5, when it travels to face Kean University (#17 NSCAA/adidas, #21 d3kicks.com) at 7:30 p.m. in Union, NJ.
