
Men's Golf Team Finishes Second at ECAC Championship

The New York University men's golf team finished in second place at the Upstate/Metro Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship, which was held at the Oswego Country Club in Oswego, NY, on Saturday and Sunday, September 29-30.
After shooting 299 In Saturday's opening round, the Violets totaled 312 on Sunday to finish with a 611 total.
St. John Fisher College shot 587 (293-284) to win the championship.
Leading the way for NYU was senior Andrew Gihm, who took third place overall. After shooting a career-best 70 on the 6,410-yard, par-71 course on Saturday, Gihm followed up with a team-best 75 on Sunday.
A pair of NYU players each shot 155 and tied for 12th place. Senior co-captain Matt McGinnis shot 80 on Sunday after carding a 75 on Saturday, while sophomore Michael Leibfried posted 79 on Sunday following an opening-round 76.
The Violets' other co-captain, senior Adam Krainson, finished 16th (78-79, 157), while junior James Hopson took 26th (81-79, 160).
"Gihm really came through for us. It was great to see him play so well," Krainson said. "He was definitely 'The Man' this weekend."
Host Oswego finished third with 622 (305-317) in the 14-team tournament.
