Women's Fencing Freshman Ciaravino Shines at NCAA Northeast Regionals

The New York University women’s fencing team traveled to Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, on Sunday, March 2, to compete at the NCAA Northeast Regionals.

Freshman Sophia Ciaravino, who took fourth place in foil, was the top finisher for the Violets in any of the three weapons.

Her strong performance qualified her for the NCAA National Championships.

Also qualifying for nationals was sophomore co-captain Alyxandra Mattison, who finished eighth in sabre.

Freshman Victoria Sheng, along with sophomores Sam Frons and Eliza Friar competed in epee. Freshman Zainab Hasnain, along with Mattison and senior co-captain Marianna Barry, fenced in sabre. Senior Eugenia Lee and freshman Amanda Rysling, along with Ciaravino, competed in foil.
