Women's Fencing Competes at Columbia University

The New York University women's fencing team traveled across Manhattan to Columbia University for their last dual competition of the season Wednesday night.

After posting victories over Sacred Heart University (16-11) and Vassar College (17-10), the Violets fell to host Columbia University 24-3 in their final match.

Sophomore co-captain Alyxandra Mattison (4-2 in sabre), freshman Sophia Ciaravino (6-1 foil), and sophomore Sam Frons (6-3 epee) all had successful results for the Violets.

Overall, NYU’s foil team went an impressive 18-9 on the day.

The Violets finished the season at 11-12.

As a team, the Violets head back to the campus of Columbia University on Sunday, February 24, at 7:00 a.m. to participate in the Intercollegiate Fencing Association Championships.
