Women's Fencing Topples FDU

The New York University women's fencing team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson University 23-4 and 21-6 in their first two dual meets of the season on Thursday night at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

In the first match, the Violets swept the three weapons, taking foil 9-0 (forfeit), sabre 8-1 and epee 6-3.

Sophomores Casey Farin and captain Alyxandra Mattison each won all three of their sabre bouts.

Another sophomore, Sam Frons won all three of her epee bouts, while senior Parisa Fayzar collected two victories.

In the second match, the Violets again swept the three weapons, taking foil 9-0 (forfeit), and both sabre and epee 6-3.

Freshman Zainab won all three of her sabre bouts, while Frons added three more epee wins
