The New York University men's fencing team traveled to the campus of Columbia University in Manhattan for the Intercollegiate Fencing Association (IFA) Championships on Sunday, February 24.

The sabre team finished in second place with a record of 24-6. The team was comprised of sophomores Jared Hammond and Sam Roukas, along with freshman Kyle Wilson.

The squad's second-place finish was the highest of any of the six NYU men's and women's teams that competed at the championships.

Individually, Hammond, fresh off his appearance at the Junior National Championships in Charlotte, NC, where he placed 52nd, posted a fifth-place finish in sabre, while Roukas recorded a top-16 finish for the Violets.

"It was a long, yet exciting day," said NYU assistant coach Lauren Willock. "The team was able to keep its focus and in turn had a really great showing."
