The New York University men's fencing team traveled across Manhattan to Columbia University for their last dual competition of the season Wednesday night.

With the Intercollegiate Fencing Association Championships and NCAA Championships around the corner, the Violets squared off against Sacred Heart University, Vassar College and host Columbia University.

After defeating Sacred Heart University 21-6 and Vassar College 19-8, in their first two matches, the Violets came to blows with host Columbia University. Despite out fencing the 2007-08 Ivy League Champions in both the sabre (5-4) and epee (7-2) weapons, the Violets were beaten in foil (8-1) and fell 14-13 overall to their inner -city rival in their final match.

Despite the loss, the Violets finished their dual-meet record at 12-8.

Individually, senior co-captain Phil Andrews posted an impressive 8-0 record in the epee weapon. Freshman Carrington Harris (6-2 in foil) and sophomore Tai Dimaio (6-3 in sabre) both enjoyed outstanding results.
