The New York University men's fencing team won all five of its matches at the Brandeis University Invitational, which was held in Waltham, MA, on Saturday.

After defeating host Brandeis 16-11 to capture the "unofficial" University Athletic Association Championship, the Violets nipped Boston College 14-13 before posting comfortable wins over MIT (18-9), the United States Air Force Academy (16-11), and Haverford College (17-10).

The perfect day for the Violets lifted the team's overall record this season to 10-7.

"It was a great performance and a great way to end our last major road trip of the season," said NYU assistant coach Lauren Willock. "Winning all of our matches against such distinguished opponents was phenomenal. Just a great day for us all around."

Individually, freshman Hugo Rodrigues had the most victories for NYU, claiming 12 sabre wins (12-2).

Right behind him was fellow freshman Carrington Harris (11-4 in foil) and sophomore Andrew Stanco (11-3 in epee).

Also posting double-digit victories was freshman Byron Neslund, who went 10-3 in epee.

The Violets return to action on Wednesday, February 13, when they face Sacred Heart University, Hunter College and host Columbia University beginning at 5pm.
