
Men's Fencing Team Defeats Stevens

The New York University men's fencing team defeated Stevens Institute of Technology 22-5 and 18-9 in their first two dual meets of the season on Thursday night at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.
In the first match, the Violets swept the three weapons, taking sabre 9-0, epee 8-1 and foil 5-4.
A trio of sophomores -- Tai Dimaio, Jared Hammond and Sam Roukas -- won all three of their sabre bouts.
In the epee, sophomore Andrew Stanco won all three of his bouts, while senior Brandon Taverni won both of his.
In the foil, freshmen Carrington Harris and Oung-Jo Yuh each won two bouts.
In the second go-round, NYU again swept the three weapons, taking epee 7-2, sabre 6-3 and foil 5-4.
In the epee, freshman Byron Neslund won both of his bouts.
In the sabre, freshman Kyle Wilson won all three of his bouts.
In the foil, Barret Elward won two bouts, while Harris also posted two wins, including the fifth and clinching victory for the Violets.
