Men's & Women's Hoops to Host Washington in "Tear It Up!" Event Friday Night at Coles

The nationally ranked New York University women's basketball team will host University Athletic Association (UAA) rival Washington University on Friday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan. The Violets' men's game against Washington at 8 p.m. will cap the doubleheader.

The game will also be the first of three designated "Tear It Up!" events held this season in conjunction with an NYU basketball doubleheader. Free food and t-shirts bearing the "Tear It Up!" logo will be provided to the student body. Last season, the student population were most of the vocal 2,463 fans on hand for a doubleheader against Washington University.

A live audio broadcast will be provided wnyu.org, while NYU will provide livestats for the contest.

Ranked #8 by D3hoops.com and #9 in the USA Today ESPN Division III Poll, the Violets (13-1, 2-1 UAA) are coming off a 50-38 victory at Carnegie Mellon University on Sunday. Junior Jessica McEntee, the reigning UAA Player of the Year, finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season.

Washington (11-3, 3-0 UAA) has won six straight after dispatching of Case Western Reserve University, 79-57, at home Sunday.
