For the fourth time this season, New York University junior forward Jessica McEntee earned the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week award.
McEntee averaged 24.0 points and 11.5 rebounds while shooting 57.1% from both the field (16-for-28) and from beyond the three-point arc (4-for-7) in a 2-0 week.
After producing a 20-point, eight-rebound performance in a 64-48 triumph over New Jersey City University on Jan. 7, McEntee erupted for 28 points and 15 rebounds in a 57-47 victory over Brandeis University in both teams' UAA opener on Jan. 12. The reigning UAA Player of the Year played all 40 minutes and hit a career-high three treys as the Violets (12-0, 1-0 UAA) overcame a 10-point, second-half deficit.
McEntee was also named the UAA Athlete of the Week on Nov. 19, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10. She is averaging 20.6 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.4 steals for NYU, ranked #3 by D3hoops.com and #4 in the USA Today/ESPN poll.
The Violets return to action Friday, Jan. 18, when they travel to UAA rival the University of Rochester (#14 USA Today/ESPN, #21 D3hoops.com) for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
