#4 Women's Basketball Plays Final Non-UAA Tilt at Hunter Monday

01/13/08

Coming off a hard-fought victory over Brandeis University to open its University Athletic Association schedule, the New York University basketball team will trek across the Big Apple to play its final non-conference game Monday, Jan. 14, at Hunter College.

The Violets (11-0) will tip off against the Hawks at 5 p.m. as the opening game of a doubleheader that will co-feature the NYU men facing Hunter at 7 p.m.

NYU will provide an internet audio broadcast, while Hunter will offer live stats for the contest.

Ranked #4 in the D3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN polls, NYU rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to best Brandeis 57-47 thanks to another superb effort from junior forward Jessica McEntee. The 2007 All-American finished with 28 points and 15 rebounds for her sixth double-double of the season. Seventeen of McEntee's 28 points came in the second half.

NYU has held three straight opponents, and six overall, below 50 points this season. In addition, the Violets have kept four foes beneath the 30.0% shooting barrier.

The Violets are 37-27-1 all-time against the Hawks, including a 88-60 victory on Jan. 15, 2007, as McEntee tallied game highs of 18 points and nine rebounds.
