#5/6 Women's Basketball Staves Off Oswego State in 67-48 Road Victory

Junior forward Jessica McEntee produced game highs of 18 points and 12 rebounds as the nationally ranked New York University women's basketball team scored a 67-48 triumph at Oswego State College on Tuesday night at Max Ziel Gym in Oswego, NY.

McEntee scored six of her points during the Violets' (6-0) 16-5 closing run, as NYU (#5 USA Today/ESPN, #6 D3hoops.com) held the Lakers (3-2) without a field goal for 6:19.

Junior guard Gena Brown added 10 points for NYU, while senior guard Chelsea Trout and sophomore guard Jen Hum-Traverso each tallied nine. Trout hit a trio of three-pointers

Sam Driscoll led Oswego State with 14 points, while Sarah Lombard added 12 points and five rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench.

After languishing offensively in taking a 27-25 halftime lead, NYU scored on each of its first five second-half possessions to seize a 39-25 lead. However, Oswego State rallied to pull within 51-45 on a lay-up by Lombard with 7:07 remaining.

Brown helped right NYU with a jumper in the paint, snapping a scoreless stretch of 5:07 that gave the Violets a 53-45 advantage with 6:38 remaining. McEntee then hit a pair of buckets to further propel a 10-0 spurt that gave NYU a 61-45 lead with 3:14 left after a Brown lay-up.

NYU shot 40.8% (25-for-62) while limiting the Lakers to 32.1 (18-for-56) shooting, including a 28.1% (9-for-32) effort in the second half.

The Violets outscored Oswego State 27-11 in points off turnovers, forcing 33 miscues by the opposition.

NYU returns to action Saturday, Dec. 8, when it travels to Madison, NJ, to face Drew University at 2 p.m.
