
Women's Basketball Ranked #4 in USA Today/ESPN Preseason Poll

Returning a strong cast after earning a trip to the 2007 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championships Final Four resulted in New York University garnered another lofty preseason ranking.
In the USA Today/ESPN Division III Top 25 Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Violets are ranked #4, their second top-five ranking thus far. NYU was ranked #2 in the Preseason Women's D III News Poll.
In 2006-07, NYU reached the Final Four for the third time ever and tied for its second-most victories ever (27-4) while earning a share of the University Athletic Association (UAA) championship with Washington University, the #1 team in the USA Today/ESPN Poll.
A year ago, junior forward Jessica McEntee (16.9 ppg, 12.5 rpg) earned All-America honors from three organizations (Kodak/Women's Basketball Coaches Association, d3hoops.com and Women's D III News) after becoming the first Violet to average a double-double in 15 years.
McEntee was named Player of the Year by the UAA, d3hoops.com (East Region), the National Invitational Tournament (NIT)/Metropolitan Basketball Writers' Association (MBWA), and the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA).
NYU opens its 2007-08 season on Friday, Nov. 16, when it hosts Trinity College (CT) in the first round of the NYU Tip-Off Tournament at 6 p.m.
