New York University placed three players on the 2007-08 University Athletic Association (UAA) All-Association Men's Basketball Team honorable mention.
Senior guard Charlie Parker, junior center John Mish and sophomore forward Keith Jensen are all first-time honorees, as the trio helped the Violets go 15-10 in the regular season and 6-8 in UAA play despite fielding one of the youngest squads in the Association.
A 6-1 product of Brooklyn, NY, Parker averaged 9.4 points and ranked fourth in the UAA by hitting 86.8% of his free-throw attempts. Perhaps his finest outing as a Violet came in a 92-85, double-overtime victory over then-#6 University of Rochester on Feb. 17, as NYU overcame a 15-point hole with 8:46 remaining in regulation when he hit two free throws in the final seconds to force an extra session.
A 6-5 pivot out of New Holland, PA, Mish enjoyed a breakthrough game Jan. 20 at Carnegie Mellon Univeristy and proceeded to reach double digits in scoring in 11 of his last 12 contests -- including just nine as a starter. In Association play, he ranked third in field-goal percentage (55.1), sixth in rebounding (6.4 rpg), seventh in blocked shots (0.64 bpg), and 10th in scoring (13.3 ppg).
Mish scored a career-high 24 points at Carnegie Mellon, including 17 in the first half as the Violets overcame an early 15-point deficit. He also tallied 22 at #5-ranked Brandeis University on March 1, and recorded consecutive double-doubles against #13 Rochester (13 points, 12 rebounds on Feb. 17) and #22 University of Chicago (17 points, 13 rebounds on Feb. 22).
A 6-4 sharpshooting forward from San Diego, Jensen averaged 10.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 14 UAA games while shooting 38.2% on three-pointers and 75.0% from the charity stripe. He ranked sixth in the Association with 2.07 three-pointers made per game. Jensen netted a career-high 23 points, including a personal-best five three-pointers, in a 76-69 home win over Emory University on Feb. 10.
