Men's Basketball Ready for Tear It Up! Tilt With Carnegie Mellon Friday
02/14/08
On the strength of a four-game victory run, the New York University men's basketball team will look to continue its prosperity Friday, Feb. 15, against University Athletic Association (UAA) rival Carnegie Mellon University at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center.
The game will be the second half of the last designated Tear It Up! basketball doubleheader of the season, with the Violets' women starting things with their 6 p.m. contest. NYU has averaged 2,111 fans for its previous two Tear It Up! doubleheaders, so fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure a seat.
NYU (14-6, 5-4 UAA) is coming off a 76-69 victory over Emory University at home on Feb. 10. Sophomore forward Keith Jensen scored a career-high 23 points for the Violets who shot 80.0% from the floor and from three-point range in the second-half en route to a season-best 58.7% shooting performance.
Carnegie Mellon (13-7, 3-6 UAA) is looking to avenge a 63-58 loss to NYU on Jan. 20 in Pittsburgh after seizing a 15-point, first-half lead. The Tartans have lost their last two games, although they defeated UAA frontrunner Washington University by 33 points at home on Feb. 3.
