New York University alumnus, Arthur Tauber, has been selected for induction into the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame. Tauber, a 1942 graduate of NYU's School of Education, currently splits his time between homes in Manchester, New Jersey and Boynton Beach, Florida.

Tauber is one of only five fencers to ever win individual Intercollegiate Fencing Association (IFA) titles in two weapons, winning the epee twice and the foil once in the early 1940¹s. He was also a member of five IFA individual weapon championship teams. Scoring 11 points in both the foil and epee divisions, and six points in the sabre, Tauber's composite score of 28 points was the highest ever scored by an individual at the Alumni Three-Weapon Trophy National Championships.

In their May 4, 1942 issue, LIFE magazine devoted an entire photo spread to Tauber for capturing his third-consecutive individual IFA title. After the 1942 season, NYU Hall of Fame fencing coach, Miguel deCaprilles said, "When we speak of the NYU fencing program, we are really speaking about Arthur Tauber."

Tauber, along with fellow NYU alumni Dorothy Hafner deCapriles (1932-fencing), Oleg Geller (1996-diving), and George G. King (1956-cross country and track), will be inducted into New York University's Hall of Fame at a dinner to be held on October 13, 2001. The four athletes will be honored for their collegiate and lifetime accomplishments, along with their commitment to NYU Athletics.
