NYU Welcomes Michael Watt into Hall of Fame

New York University alumnus, Michael Watt, a 1988 graduate of NYU's Stern School of Business with a bachelor's degree in certified public accounting, has been inducted into the NYU Athletics Hall of Fame. Watt, who currently resides in Hong Kong, was NYU's first NCAA All-American Swimmer.

A two-time All-American, Watt earned these honors with a fourth-place finish in the 100 yard breastroke and a fifth-place finish in the 200 yard breastroke at the NCAA Championships in 1988. Watt also earned first-place and second-place honors at both the UAA and Metropolitan Championships in the same year. He was a two-time member of the Hong Kong Olympic Swim Team (1984, 1988) and holds NYU and Coles Sports Center records in the 200 yard and 200 meter breaststroke. Watt once held the Hong Kong national record in the 200 meter breastroke.

Watt currently works as a financial manager and the Asia/Pacific CFO at Lucent Technologies in Hong Kong.

Watt, along with fellow NYU alumni, Harold Bogrow (1941-track), Donna Layne (1994-basketball) and Desmond Margetson (1948-tennis), were inducted into New York University's Hall of Fame at a dinner to be held on October 21, 2000. The four athletes were honored for their collegiate and lifetime accomplishments, along with their commitment to NYU Athletics.
