Noah D. LeFevre, who currently serves as Associate Director of Athletics at New York University, works primarily with the University’s intercollegiate athletic programs in a number of capacities and serves as a representative on the University Athletic Association (UAA) athletic administrators committee.
LeFevre is responsible for the marketing and brand management of the department and is currently working to redevelop the branded image of NYU athletics and create exposure for the program within the University community, local neighborhoods and corporate sponsors. The first step of this project was announced in March of 2007 with the introduction a new branded mascot for NYU athletics. The second and third stages, which will include new graphic images and logos for all of the department’s programs, will be rolled out during the 2008 summer recess.
As part of NYU’s increased marketing efforts, in 2006 the Student Athletic Advisory Committee under LeFevre’s direction created the “Tear It Up!” campaign in an effort to effectively and creatively market intercollegiate athletics to the University community. The program includes game attendance promotions, such as bobble-head giveaways and other sponsored gifts; in-game contests, tailgate receptions for all NYU students in attendance and interactive programming between different NYU teams and campus groups. On average basketball games held on “Tear It Up!” nights surpass 2,500 spectators.
The Sweat-n-Shop, the NYU athletic department’s retail outlet, was created in 2003 under the direction of LeFevre. The shop is the department’s public store for university apparel, official NYU athletic team merchandise, sporting good equipment and nutrition goods. There are currently two store locations in addition to an on-line shop. The Sweat-n-Shop also provides concession vending at all NYU home athletic and special event competitions.
LeFevre is responsible for all aspects of NYU’s home varsity contests. He submits NCAA post-season contract bids and has served as tournament director for several post-season NCAA and ECAC championships. He oversees intercollegiate game management and event staffing for over 150 NYU home athletic contests each year.
In addition to his responsibilities with the NYU varsity athletics program, LeFevre also manages the day-to-day operations of the 80,000 square foot Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF), which sees 2,300 patrons, visit per day. His responsibilities with the PAF include budget planning, resource allocation, revenue production and management, creation and maintenance of the PAF website, supervision of over 200 full and part time staff, the PAF Natatorium, as well as all other activity areas and programs.
In 2000, LeFevre was assigned the responsibility of project manager for coordinating the internal design and construction of the PAF with the architects, engineers, construction managers, contractors, multiple University offices and city agencies to ensure the state-of-the-art complex met the revenue demands and needs of the department’s intercollegiate, intramural and recreation programs.
From 2001-05 LeFevre also worked for the National Invitational Tournament (NIT). He assisted with selection meetings, practices schedules and served as a site representative.
In 2004 and 2005, LeFevre served as a consultant to the Hockey East Conference and made recommendations to the conference commissioner on the league’s revenue production, regular and post-season scheduling, coaching compensation packages and branding initiatives.
LeFevre also has a wealth of coaching experience, serving four years at the Collegiate School as an assistant to legendary high school basketball coach Larry Byrnes (577 wins). In LeFevre’s five years there, the Dutchmen compiled a 131-23 record and were New York State class B finalists in 1997. LeFevre also served as head baseball coach and assistant basketball coach at Friends Seminary in Manhattan. At the time, he was the youngest head baseball coach in New York State.
For his hard work and dedication to the department LeFevre was awarded the NYU Distinguished Administrator Award in 2007, the highest recognition an NYU administrator can receive.
Presently, LeFevre instructs academic courses in the sports management school at NYU. The curriculum for his classes includes a sports marketing and branding program, a finance and investment course, and a facility construction module.
A 1997 honors graduate of NYU’s College of Arts & Science, LeFevre holds a B.A. and M.S. in sports management and is currently pursuing an M.B.A. from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. In addition to his studies at the University, LeFevre holds a certificate from the Sports Management Institute (SMI), the premiere athletic administrative development academy in the country. LeFevre’s SMI program was completed on the campuses of the University of Michigan and the University of Texas.
LeFevre is a Manhattan native and resident.
