Tomasz Stefanowski’s will be entering his fifth season as an assistant coach of the New York University men’s soccer team. Among his many duties with the Violets, Stefanowski is responsible for training sessions, game analysis and recruiting.

Last season, Stefanowski helped lead the Violets to the Final Four in their first return to the NCAA Tournament since becoming a Division III program in 1982. In addition, NYU earned its highest national ranking, finishing #4 in the final NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America)/adidas Division III Poll, and set team records for wins (15), longest winning streak (10), and longest unbeaten streak (12, 10-0-2).

Stefanowski was also part of a coaching staff that experienced unparalleled success in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Violets ended up in a tie for second place, their highest finish ever, while setting new marks for most wins (4-2-1) and points (13).

In 2005, the Violets posted an 11-7-1 overall record, a 3-4 mark in the UAA and qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Metro Tournament Championship. This included a #8 national ranking and a school-record shutout streak of 571:03.

In 2003, Stefanowski helped lead the Violets to an overall record of 9-6-4 and to the quarterfinals of the ECAC Tournament.

“Coach Stefanowski’s playing experience with NYU helps our team in many ways on and off the field,” said NYU head coach Joe Behan. “Tom's appetite for the game itself and his ambition for the program's success give us an extra edge.”

A 1997 graduate of NYU’s Leonard N. School of Business with a bachelor of science degree in finance and international business, Stefanowski was a four-year starter in the midfield for the Violets’ soccer team. He played for Behan as a senior, served as team captain, and earned the NYU Academic Achievement Award.

Stefanowski has additional coaching experience as the Coach/ Founder/ Manager of the Gotham Football Club, a team that consists of former NYU players. The squad plays in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Third Division, the Urban Soccer League, the Brooklyn United Soccer League, and the Metro Soccer League. Stefanowski also coached an under-16 team in the Cosmopolitan League in 2001-02.

Stefanowski, who earned an MBA in finance from NYU in 2005, also serves as a director at Duff & Phelps, LLC.

A native of Elmhurst, NY, Stefanowski currently resides in Hoboken, New Jersey.
