...where fitness and pleasure walk hand in hand.

Fitness walking is increasingly touted as one of the ideal forms of exercise: Reduce stress, increase energy, tone muscles, burn calories, and improve your overall quality of life and enjoy doing it.

The club offers a non-competative social activity that is versatile enough to accommodate all ages and fitness levels with treks on nearby hiking trails in and outside the city.

The Hiking Club holds six to eight outings a year with most walks averaging two hours plus travel time. We go to parks, preserves, and beaches where city-bound members can have a healthy workout while exploring refreshing natural environments. Members are encouraged to keep fit by using the roof or the treadmills at Coles or the Palladium between treks, and to participate in charity walks during the year.

The club attracts students and alumni, with an international mix joining native New Yorkers to provide a lively forum for the exchange of ideas and information about our city and our destinations: the history, geological features, flora and fauna, as well as cultural traditions.

It is also an opportunity for students from outside New York to explore some of the natural resources available to them, from Bear Mountain and Jones Beach to Central Park and Prospect Park.
