.:Training:.
New York University Crew trains at a high level both on and off
the water throughout the fall, winter, and spring. The team rows
on the Harlem River out of the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse at 201st
Street in Manhattan (www.nyrp.org/boathouse.htm)
and trains on land on campus at Coles Sports Center. NYU Crew expects
its athletes to funnel the same focus and discipline into their
training and competing as they do into their academic endeavors.
Among regular practice sessions during the semester, the team arranges
training camps over semester breaks and encourages its athletes
to find a club to row with either recreationally or competitively
over the summer.
At all times, NYU Crew abides by the NCAA Division III, ECAC, and
IRA guidelines.
.:Prospective Tryouts:.
Prospective students interested in NYU Crew should understand that
rowing is a high-intensity sport that demands a lot of dedication
and commitment. NYU Crew encourages all students interested in the
program to begin to improve their fitness through running, rowing,
erging, swimming, and any other physical activity prior to team
tryouts in the fall. Admission will be based on factors such as
tryout numbers and scores.
