UAA Soccer Poll Announced

The University Athletic Association pre-season soccer coaches’ poll has been announced.
The New York University women’s team has been picked to finish second and the men’s team seventh in a vote of the UAA’s eight head coaches.
The NYU women’s team, coming off last year’s UAA Championship and NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" appearance, received three first-place votes and a total of 39 points. Only the University of Chicago, the #1 choice with four first-place votes and 46 overall points, was ranked ahead of the Violets.
The NYU men receoived a total of 14 points, directly behind #6 Brandeis University (24 points) and directly ahead of #8 Case Wetsern Reserve University (7 points). Carnegie Mellon University was chosen first with 45 points.
The women’s team opens its season on Friday, August 29, when they host St. John Fisher College at 6pm at Riverbank State Park in Manhattan. The men’s team opens it 2003 season when they face Steven Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, on Saturday, August 30 at 7pm.
