NYU Moves Up to #14 in Directors’ Cup Division III Standings Following NCAA Winter Championships

Following a winter sports season that included a best-ever ninth-place national finish for New York University's men's swimming and diving team and a best-ever 12th-place finish by the wrestling team, NYU has moved up to 14th place in the U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup Division III Standings.
The Violet swimmers earned 69 points for their outstanding performance in the pool, while the wrestlers earned 64.5 points for their grit on the mat.
Overall, NYU's varsity sports teams have earned a total of 373.50 points.
Two other University Athletic Association institutions, Washington University (693.50 points - first place) and Emory University (434 points - ninth place), appear among the top-15 in the standings.
NYU is only three points behind 13th-place Calvin College.
Adding to NYU's overall point total during the winter season was the men’s indoor track and field team, which earned 37 points for placing 36th in its NCAA Championship. The women’s swimming and diving team received 33 points for its 41st-place NCAA finish.
Overall, the Violets accumulated 273.50 points during the winter sports season after having piled up 125 points during the fall season.
During the fall, NYU earned 100 points for winning the national championship in men’s cross country, while the men’s soccer team collected 25 points for its 33rd-place NCAA finish.
The final Division III Winter U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup Standings were released on April 3, 2008.
In 2006-07, NYU finished a best-ever 14th in the standings.
