Ciaravino and Mattison Win UAA Honors

New York University freshman Sophia Ciaravino and sophomore Alyxandra Mattison were honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Fencing Co-Athletes of the Week on March 3.

Ciaravino and Mattison both qualified for the NCAA National Collegiate Championships in their respective weapons with their performances at the NCAA Northeast Regionals, which was held Poughkeepsie, NY on March 2. Ciaravino finished 4th in foil in the final round and was the top finisher for NYU in any of the three weapons. Mattison placed 8th in sabre in a field of 41 competitors.

Both women will be making their debut appearance at the NCAA Championships, which take place on March 13-15 in Columbus, OH.
