
Women's Basketball's McEntee Claims Seventh UAA Weekly Award

After another stellar week, New York University junior forward Jessica McEntee earned her seventh University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week award this season.
A 5-11 junior captain from Flushing, NY, McEntee averaged 24.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals in a pair of losses for the Violets (13-7, 2-7 UAA). She also shot 50.0% from three-point range (6-for-12) and 76.9% (10-for-13) at the free-throw line.
After finishing with 21 points, nine rebounds and four steals in a 73-63 loss to Case Western Reserve University on Feb. 8, McEntee posted game highs of 27 points and 13 rebounds in a 64-61 setback vs. Emory University two days later.
Overall, McEntee has earned 14 weekly awards this season, in addition to being named the Women's DIII News Player of the Month for December and Most Valuable Player of both the NYU Tip-Off Tournament and NYU Classic.
McEntee is averaging a UAA- and team-leading 21.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game for NYU, which returns to action Friday, Feb. 15, when it hosts Association foe Carnegie Mellon University at 6 p.m.
In addition to being a Tear It Up! event, it is also a "Think Pink" night in support of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) program to promote the importance of breast cancer research on college campuses. More than 900 women's basketball programs are taking part in the WBCA's initiative.
