01/30/08

For the third straight week and sixth time overall, New York University junior forward Jessica McEntee claimed the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week award.

McEntee was also named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metro Co-Player of the Week, sharing the award with Hillary Klimowicz of The College of New Jersey. It was the third time this season the 5-11 junior captain was cited by the ECAC.

Meanwhile, McEntee shared this week's UAA accolade with Jaime Capra of Brandeis University after averaging 24.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in a pair of Association losses last weekend.

In a 66-60 loss to Washington University on Jan. 25, McEntee contributed game highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds.

The 5-11 native of Flushing, NY, then became the 13th Violet women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point plateau in a 72-68 setback vs. the University of Chicago. McEntee hit a three-pointer with 12:18 remaining in the first half to reach the millennium mark, and ultimately ended with game bests of 25 points and 14 caroms for her 11th double-double of the season.

Ranked #21 by D3hoops.com, NYU (13-3, 2-3 UAA) returns to action Friday, Feb. 1, when it travels to Atlanta to face UAA rival Emory University at 6 p.m.
