"Tear It Up!" Returns for Basketball Doubleheader Friday vs. Washington

New York University will host a University Athletic Association (UAA) basketball doubleheader against rival Washington University on Friday, Jan. 25, at the Jerome S. Coles Sports Center in Manhattan.

The Violet women will face Washington at 6 p.m., followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.

Both games are part of the first of three "Tear It Up!" designated basketball doubleheaders this season. Free food and t-shirts bearing the "Tear It Up!" logo will be provided to the student body. Last season, the student population were most of the vocal 2,463 fans on hand for a doubleheader against Washington University.

A live audio broadcast will be provided wnyu.org, while NYU will provide for both the men's and women's contests.

NYU's "Tear It Up!" campaign earned a 2007 National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Excellenge Gold Award in the category of “Athletics, Recreation, Physical Fitness, Non-Varsity Sports” for its continuing ability to ignite strong student support for the Violets’ varsity athletic programs.
