01/22/08
New York University junior Devin Zolnowski was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Hay Division Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday.
Zolnowski helped the #6-ranked Violets to a 1-1 record for the week as the team continued its best start (5-1) since the inception of the rally-scoring era in 2001.
In NYU's first match of the week, Zolnowski put down a team-best 14 kills along with five digs and two blocks in a 3-1 loss to #5-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology on January 16.
The Violets rebounded on January 18 with a 3-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz in the team's 2008 home opener. Zolnowski recorded seven kills on 16 swings while also notching five digs and four blocks in only two games.
For the week, the junior averaged 3.50 kills, 1.67 digs and 1.00 blocks per game.
Zolnowski was a Second Team EIVA Division III All-Star in 2007.
