Smith Earns UAA Athlete of the Week Honors

Holly Smith, a junior on the NYU women’s tennis team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women’s Tennis co-Athlete of the Week. Smith won both of her matches at fifth singles and split a pair of matches at second doubles as the Violets defeated Brandeis 8-1 on March 10, and lost to Middlebury College on March 11.

In singles competition, Smith posted a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jenica Hornung of Brandeis and followed with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 victory against Middlebury. In doubles play, she teamed with Meggie Smith to defeat the Brandeis doubles team 8-2.

For the season, the Troy, Michigan, native has posted a 7-1 record in singles, and a 9-2 record in doubles.
