10 NYU Student-Athletes Earn Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award

Ten New York University student-athletes have been honored as 2005 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars. To be eligible for this award, the student-athlete of color must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2 and be active on their campuses or in their communities.

The women’s track & field team and the men’s tennis team each had three student-athletes receive the award. Seniors Robin Kloc, Patricia Izquierdo and Lauren Pringle of the women’s track & field team earned the award, while the three members of the men’s tennis team were juniors Nikko Buencamino, Christopher Chang and Shmmi Jindal.

Junior Jean Goto and senior Priya Narayanan of the women’s fencing team were also both honored.

Rounding out NYU’s award winners were senior Jessica Yuen of the women’s swimming team and junior Howah Hung of the men’s track & field team.
