Jessica Hagedorn was schooled in the
theater arts at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. Her
first novel, Dogeaters, was published in 1990 and is now in its twelfth
printing. Hagedorn has edited Charlie Chan is Dead: An Anthology of Contemporary
Asian American Fiction, which was published in 1993. Other books include
Danger and Beauty, a collection of poetry and prose, and The Gangster
of Love, a novel. Her other accomplishments include multimedia theater
and performance pieces and collaborations on numerous video and film projects.
