Gender, Cultural Citizenship, and Transnationalism 9th Annual Asian/Pacifics in America Conference This symposium extends cultural citizenship by making gender and transnationalism central to citizenship theory and praxis, and examines the gendered dimensions of enfranchisement and struggles for cultural citizenship among people living in migrant, diasporic, and border communities. ÒGender, Cultural Citizenship, and TransnationalismÓ seeks to develop a comparative framework for gender and cultural citizenship in a transnational context by asking such questions as: How is globalization redefining notions of democracy and citizenship? How is gender implicated in these processes of redefinition? What new lines of inquiry emerge when we bring into conversation gender analysis of cultural citizenship and studies of migration, diaspora, and borderlands? Co-sponsored by Rockefeller Foundation, NYU's Department of Anthropology, and The Gender and Cultural Citizenship Working Group. Fri - Sat .::. Oct 11 - 12 9:00am - 5:00pm NYU .::.
