It is the function of the committees to study and make recommendations on matters within their respective areas of responsibility in order to help the Council arrive at decisions. Committee membership is open to all constituents of the Council (including, but not exclusive to the representatives of the Council) who indicate a desire to serve on a Committee. Each Committee is required to report to the Council on activities on a regular basis, and is expected to make recommendations to the Council for approval. Personnel and Benefits amc.benefits@nyu.edu

Chairperson: Neptali Martinez
The Personnel and Benefits Committee serves in an advisory role to facilitate the Council’s participation in the University governance process with respect to matters of personnel policy. The Committee conducts ongoing reviews of current personnel and benefits policies affecting administrative and professional staff and submits recommendations to University Administration relative to existing policies.

Committee recommendations over the past few years have led to the creation of new and/or enhanced benefits and policies that include the following: a First Mortgage Program, an interest-free deferred payment computer purchase program at the NYU Book Store, a Second Master's Degree for spouses/registered same sex domestic partners/dependent children, written notification of annual raises prior to Sept. 1, increased vacation time for longer service salary advances to assist with the payment of withholding taxes on tuition remission for spouses/registered same sex domestic partners/dependent children, an optional 12 month payroll deduction plan for Coles yearly membership fees.

In addition to preparing this year's recommendations to University Administration, the committee is exploring the topics of Phased Retirement, Professional Development, other issues of importance to University administrators as well as reviewing the anticipated changes to registration fees for administrators, an issue presented in 2003-04 by the AMC to the University Administration.

Community Service amc.community.service@nyu.edu

Co-Chairperson: Barbara Albrecht
Co-Chairperson: Alexis Rodriguez
The Community Service Committee is charged with identifying and coordinating community service opportunities for the administrative population at the university. The Committee has taken on such projects as a variety of fundraising walks, community relief collections, University Week of Service, book drives, blood drives, and other worthwhile projects in the past . The University’s administrative community generously supports these events. The committee welcomes new ideas and, of course, new members.

The Naughty Knitters is the Administrative Management Council's (AMC) volunteer knitting and crocheting group. We meet the second Friday of each month from 12:00PM-1:00PM on the Washington Square campus to create baby blankets and other items for the Children's Aid Society, which assists NYC-area infants and children. This five-year-old collaborative program has been a great success, creating hundreds of handmade items for the Society and bringing together administrators from many different NYU departments to participate in this charitable effort. Funded by generous support from the NYU Office of Community Service, the Knitters have donated over 500 baby blankets, caps, scarves, and sweaters to CAS's young clients. We also contribute handmade items to other national charities, such as Warm Up, America. Knitting and crocheting materials are available for participants at each session. If you are a new knitter or crocheter—or if you have knitting or crocheting experience and want to re-awaken your skills and share them with others—contact Jennie Tichenor at jt6@nyu.edu to join the Naughty Knitters' listserv.
