The NYU Women's Initiative Presents
The Poetics of Cloth: African Textiles / Recent ArtThis dynamic exhibition will compare and contrast traditional textiles with contemporary paintings, sculpture, photographs, and videos by leading African artists, illuminating the connections between past and present. These stunning works will demonstrate how African artists from different countries and backgrounds share a common engagement with one of the most fundamental and traditional forms of African art.

Each year, the New York University Alumni Association recognizes outstanding alumni from across the University for exceptional achievements and contributions to society.
We are pleased to announce this year’s Alumni Awards Luncheon will take place on Friday, October 17th at the Pierre Hotel in Manhattan, and will honor the Honorable Jonathan Lippman (WSC ’65; LAW ’68), Dr. Richard Cash (MED ’66), solo artist Patti Scialfa (GALLATIN ’75), and poet laureate Charles Simic (WSC ’67).

NYU Choral Alumni 135th Anniversary ConcertThe New York University Choral Alumni will perform a concert celebrating 135 years of continuous choral singing at NYU on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 7:30 P.M. The alumni chorus will be joined by the NYU Choral Arts Society, University Singers, Madrigal Singers, Jazz Choir and Symphony Orchestra.
This momentous occasion will bring together over 130 choral alumni from 25 states and Canada. A varied repertoire will be performed and all of the singers and musicians will join together to perform Mozart’s Regina Coeli K.276.
Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, are $15 ($10 with student ID) for the concert only, and $35 which includes a post-concert reception.
