This fall, alumni will have a new home on campus when the University opens the doors to the Jeffrey S. Gould Welcome Centerthe gateway to New York University for alumni, parents, and friends.
Located in Shimkin Hall on the corner of West 4th Street and Schwartz Plaza, the Center will not only serve the needs of alumni, but will also be a gathering point for prospective students and members of the Greenwich Village neighborhood. With views of the arch and Washington Square Park, the Center will afford visitors a classic impression of NYU and connect the University with New York.
The Center will be named for alumnus Jeffrey S. Gould (WSC 79) whose gift has enabled its creation. As a student, Gould was an active member of the Program Board, which was responsible for planning student activities. Now in the information business as a publisher, the opportunity to give something back to NYU and its future students resonated with Gould. In honor of his 25th Reunion Year, he decided to sponsor the creation of a living room space to welcome alumni visitors and distribute information.
This is the first facility which will truly provide a physically welcoming space for all alumni who visit campus, said Michael Rosenberg (STERN 55), president of the NYU Alumni Association. Alumni will be able to drop in to update their address, get information on upcoming events, and pick up the latest alumni publications. In addition, the Center will feature state-of-the-art multimedia equipment and provide an event and conference room facility for alumni events and board meetings.
