Alumni, Parents, and Students Participate in Two
New Community Programs
When NYU President John Sexton was formally installed last fall, one of the major themes of his inaugural address was the need to build a greater sense of community between students, faculty, parents, and alumni. As a result, two new programs were introduced this year to help students gain valuable insight from some of NYUs most prominent alumni, parents, and Trustees.
The Distinguished Visitors Series was initiated to join alumni and parents who have had unique career trajectories with students. Once a month, an alumnus/a or parent is invited to dinner at the NYU Torch Club with a select group of students, followed by dessert and a presentation to a larger group of students at one of NYUs residence halls.
Continuing a tradition that he began at the Law School, President Sexton introduced the Presidents Roundtables as a way to introduce students to alumni and friends of NYU who have done something interesting with their professional lives. The Roundtables, which began in October and take place throughout the academic year, are a personal opportunity for an exchange with students and alumni.
