SCPS Hosts Dean’s Day

As part of its Dean’s Day program, the School of Continuing and Professional Studies highlighted its many degree programs by inviting alumni to give their perspective on a panel discussion entitled, “Making it in the Big Apple.” Pictured above (l-r) are SCPS alumni panelists Lavinel Savu (MS, Publishing ’99), Mimi Fuhrman (MS, Real Estate ’92), Matthew Grob (BA, Social Sciences ’96), Kitt Garrett (BS, Hospitality ’01), Michael Hay (BS, Hospitality ’99), and Frank Kababik (BA, Social Sciences ’84). Over 100 alumni, students, and faculty members attended Dean’s Day, which was held at both Cooper Square and at the W Hotel on Union Square.

Evening of Monopoly Benefits SCPS

Members of the Real Estate Alumni Association and their guests show off their raffle prizes at the conclusion of the SCPS Evening of Monopoly.
On November 8th, over 650 real estate professionals attended the SCPS M.S. in Real Estate Alumni Association’s 9th annual Evening of Monopoly. The event’s theme revolved around the game of Monopoly, and guests were treated to a networking reception, Monopoly game playing, a buffet dinner, and dancing. This unique fundraising event, which was conceived and organized by the alumni, supports the SCPS Real Estate Institute. Bonnie Kirschenbaum (SCPS ’96) chaired this year’s event.

The funds raised at this event—a record $250,000—will be used for scholarships and academic enhancements at the Real Estate Institute. In addition, a portion of the event’s proceeds was donated to the honorary chairperson’s charity of choice. This year’s honorary chairperson, Jeff T. Blau, president of The Related Companies and adjunct professor of development and finance at the Real Estate Institute, chose to support The Doe Fund.
