NYU Responds
to Sept. 11

There are certain moments in time—events that impact our lives—that become vivid memories. We remember where we were when Kennedy was shot; when Neil Armstrong walked on the moon. Now, where we were when the planes hit on September 11th.

Kimmel Center Takes Shape

With the stunning off-white and orange stone exterior of the Helen and Martin Kimmel Center for University Life now visible from across Washington Square, a number of alumni, parents, and friends of NYU have made naming gifts to support this exciting new addition to the campus. Such gifts are an excellent way to pay tribute to alma mater, to honor a family’s multi-generational ties to the University, or to celebrate a son’s or daughter’s acceptance to NYU or graduation.

For more information on how to make a naming gift in support of this landmark facility, contact kimmel.naming@nyu. edu or call 212-998-6900.

Recent Alumni Network
Participates in
NY Cares Day

The NYU Recent Alumni Network lent a hand at the annual New York Cares Day last October. On a sunny Saturday, a team of 20 alumni volunteered their time for hands-on community service. They worked at PS 22, Thomas Jefferson School in Queens, to help revitalize the playground, paint the library, and create a mural for the auditorium. It was a great day for sharing old memories and making new friends.

The Recent Alumni Network will continue their monthly networking receptions through the spring. Held from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the NYU Torch Club, these events routinely draw many metro area alumni for drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and companionship. The spring dates are:

Thursday, April 4, 2002
Thursday, May 2, 2002
Thursday, June 13, 2002

If you have graduated in the last ten years, join the Recent Alumni list serve. Just send an e-mail to recent.alumni@nyu.edu with the word “ADD” in the subject line and you’ll be on the list for the most up-to-date information for NYU recent alumni activities.
