Alumni Association Announces Reciprocal Benefits with the
University of Amsterdam
NYU alumni traveling abroad have an exciting new benefit to look forward to if they are planning a stop in Amsterdam. Through a new reciprocal benefit agreement with the University of Amsterdam (UvA), NYU alumni now have access and reservation privileges at the Amsterdamse Academische Club, UvAs faculty club, which is similar to The NYU Torch Club. If you need a place to stay while visiting Amsterdam, reduced rates are available at the Hotel Residence Le Coin, located on the UvA campus. (You must make your reservations through the UvA alumni office.) Alumni may also enjoy reciprocal reading privileges at the library at UvA.
The alumni relations office at the University of Amsterdam is located at Spui 25-27 and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, call 011-31-(0)20-525-2138.

Co-Sponsoring Annual Entrepreneurship Conference
The sixth annual NYU All-University Conference on Self Employment, Business Ownership and Entrepreneurship will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2002. This all-day conference is a great opportunity to learn from, interact with, and benefit from the experience of some of the nations top entrepreneurs. This years keynote speaker is Kay Koplovitz, a former member of the NYU Stern Board of Overseers and the founder of USA Network and the new Broadway Television Network.
As part of the conference, a Student and Alumni Business Expo is planned. Alumni are encouraged to submit a brief synopsis of a business idea and plan (approximately 500 words) that will receive feedback from conference attendees. Submissions must include your name, address, phone number, e-mail (if available), division of NYU, year of graduation, name of your business, summary of your business plan or business idea and why you think it would work. On a separate page, describe what you would display at your booth at the Expo, if selected. Be sure to include any special requests, such as access to an electrical outlet. Submissions can be e-mailed to expo@nyuconference.org.
The deadline for Expo entries is March 30th and winners will be notified by April 9th if they have been selected to display their business at the conference on April 20th.

Keeping the Flame Alive:
The NYU Annual Funds
Alumni are the pride and joy of New York University. Your accomplishments are testimony to our ability to provide our students with the skills to learn, question, aspire, and achieve goals. Alumni support for the University is an equally important measure of our success. Everything we do at New York University is enhanced by the commitment of donors who care enough about NYU to generously make contributions to the University. Each year, thousands of our alumni keep the flame alive by supporting the NYU Annual Funds.
Every gift makes a difference. Encompassing every one of our schools, the NYU Annual Funds allow the University to take advantage of unforeseen opportunities while building for the future. Last year, thousands of alumni contributed whatever they could to the NYU Annual Funds, generating over $9.5 million.
Did you know that many corporate sponsors and private foundations use alumni participation as criteria for providing financial support? So, your gift, regardless of size, makes a difference to NYU and to the thousands of students who carry the torch of knowledge today.
How can you help? Contributions to the NYU Annual Funds may be made in the form of personal checks, money orders, and credit card charges. Checks and money orders should be made payable to New York University and mailed to the Office for University Development and Alumni Relations, 25 West Fourth Street, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10012-1119. Credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and VISA) gifts can be made by calling 1-800-NYU-4144 between 9 a.m and 5 p.m. eastern standard time; or make a gift on-line at www.nyu.edu/alumni/giving.
Many corporations match the gifts of their employees, thereby magnifying the impact of each contribution. To increase your gift in this way, please obtain a matching gift form from your employers or spouses employers personnel office and enclose it with your contribution.
