TSOA honors recent alumni filmmakers

Five young alumni and a graduating senior from the Tisch School of the Arts Kanbar Institute of Film and Television are the winners of the King Family Foundation Awards and the 2000 Wasserman Awards, NYU's top filmmaking honors, given during the recent First Run Festival presented by New York Magazine.

First prize winners Ben Tomlin, `99, for 6 Miles of 8 Feet and Peter Sollett, `98, for Five Feet High and Rising, also a Jury Prize winnder at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. Second-prize winners Marcela Steingart, '99, for Meta and Dan Marks, `00, for Point Blank. Third-prize winners:Jodi Gibson, '99, for Friday, which also received Honorable Mention at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival, and Sean Carter, `99, for The Surface.

The Kanbar Institute also recently announced the winners of the 2000 Richard Vague Film Production Fund awards for alumni filmmaking. Tatia Rosenthal, `98, won first place for her film project $9.99 and Marylou Tibaldo-Bongiorno '99 won second place for Little Kings.
