Stanley C. He assumed the position on March 2. A partner in the Manhattan law firm of Lesser & Harrison, he currently serves as a Trustee Associate on the University's Board of Trustees.

"Stan Lesser has been has been one of the most effective advocates for this University and its alumni for many years," said President L. Jay Oliva. "We know that we will continue to benefit from his leadership and guidance through the Alumni Association."

Lesser has served NYU in a number of positions: as Alumni Trustee on the Board of Trustees from 1992 to 1998, and as Trustee Associate from 1998 to the present; president of the Law Alumni Association from 1996 to 1998; president of the NYU Alumni Federation from 1985 to 1987; president of the NYU Club from 1977 to 1979; and president of the Varsity Club from 1968 to 1971. In 1974 he received the NYU Meritorious Service Award, and in 1997 received the Distinguished Service Award of the College of Arts and Science. A lifelong sports fan, Lesser in 1997 funded the Alumni Association's Athlete of the Year Award.

Admitted to the bar in New York and in Florida, his areas of practice include general civil practice, corporate, labor, estates and trusts, trademark licensing, and real estate. He was recently appointed as a member of the Committee on Character and Fitness of applicants for admission to practice in New York.

"I look forward to this new challenge and opportunity to further serve the University as president of the Alumni Association," said Lesser. "I would hope that we will continue to see rapid growth in alumni involvement and financial support. My life has been enriched in so many ways by my affiliation with NYU, and I urge others to take advantage of the many activities, programs, and opportunities that an active role in alumni affairs offers to all of us."
