Entrepreneurship conference draws large alumni audienceHundreds of NYU alumni joined students, faculty, and staff at the University on April 29 as New York University presented its fourth Conference on Self-Employment, Business Ownership, and Entrepreneurship. The annual event is designed to assist alumni and students in gaining an understanding of the variety of business ownership opportunities available to them and the knowledge required to pursue them intelligently. Participants heard keynote addresses by Fred DeLuca, co-founder and president of Subway Restaurants; Judy George, chairman and CEO of Domain; and Jerry L. Cohen, former owner and president of the New Jersey Nets basketball franchise and currently a board member of YANKEENETS. Cohen is a graduate of the Leonard N. Stern School of Business and serves on the school's Board of Overseers. The day-long event featured panels on such topics as "Small Business Essentials", "Writing an Effective Business Plan", "Choosing the Right Business for You", "Using the Internet to Move Your Business Ahead", "Cash Flow Management", "Turning Your Business Idea into a Reality", and "Home-Based Businesses". |
