Meet the NYUAA Board: Mark Yang (CIMS ’99)

The NYU Alumni Association (NYUAA) represents all NYU alumni, from every NYU school and department—a community more than half-a-million strong. The diverse and active NYUAA Board of Directors is made up of alumni volunteers who steer the Association in their mission to engage and support alumni.

Mark Yank

Mark Yank (CIMS ’99) is a first-year board member and serves on the NYUAA Volunteer Leadership Outreach Committee. Additionally, Mark is the founding president of the NYU Alumni Club in South China, one of the NYUAA’s most active alumni clubs; a committee member of the NYU Pan Asia Alumni Association, which hosts the annual NYU Pan Asia Alumni Conference, NYU’s largest event in Asia; and a board member of the USC Alumni Association in South China.

What is your favorite

  • Food? A Peter Luger steak.
  • Book? The Godfather
  • TV Show and/or Movie? Gandhi
  • Song and/or Musical Artist? Simply Red

  • Way to spend a Saturday? Organizing alumni events to meet old and new friends from NYU.
  • Place to travel? My favorite place to vacation is Penang Island, Malaysia.
  • Place on the NYU campus? Washington Square Park

What is your favorite memory from your time at NYU?

The countless weekends that I spent in the Courant computer lab with my buddies from the Computer Science program doing our projects together.

Why do you give back to NYU?

I want to see my alma mater grow in stature.
