Each May, New York City is filled with excited NYU graduates in their violet robes strolling the streets, smiles on their faces, and tassels in tow. And after a sunny spring weekend, this year was no exception. The evening before Commencement the Manhattan skyline beamed with #VioletPride as the Empire State Building was lit violet, a favorite NYU tradition.
The next morning, the subways were flooded with #NYU2019 graduates as the Class of 2019 made its way to Yankee Stadium to celebrate the University’s 187th Commencement Exercises. Elizabeth Alexander, prolific poet and President of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, graced the stage as Commencement speak to deliver words of wisdom on the new graduates as they begin the next step in their journeys.
