The Latest on Spring 2021, NYU Commencement, and More

In response to the ongoing spread of COVID-19, the emergence of new variants, and the slow rollout of the vaccine, the University announced that Commencement for the Class of 2021 will be hosted virtually this year. The in-person Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 will also be further postponed due to the current state of the pandemic.
As NYU ramps up for the spring semester, President Hamilton sent an update to parents on the University’s efforts to keep students safe on campus. Additionally, the communication also highlights two significant achievements: NYU’s record-setting application numbers for first-year admission and the University’s record year in research funding.
Senior Vice President for Student Affairs Marc Wais reflected on NYU’s successful reconvening on campus and emphasized the importance of following University guidelines to prevent potential outbreaks. Dr. Carlo Ciotoli, Executive Lead of the NYU COVID-19 Prevention & Response Team, also issued a reminder to NYU community members regarding testing requirements for access to NYU academic and administrative facilities.
