Thanks to all of you who participated! Voting has officially come to a close.The 2008 class gift will be... Winner: NYU Green - Native Woodland Garden: 635 NYU's Garden Shop will create a display garden in a suitable location on the Washington Square campus. Using plant species lists representing pre-Hudsonian ecosystems, a garden design will be created to evoke the natural history of Manhattan. Native woodland species will thrive in the shady environment, recalling native Manhattan ecosystems that grew underneath the forest canopy and demonstrating that green spaces can peacefully coexist with human-built construction. This native woodland garden will feature and display a garden area section in honor of the Class of 2008, thereby contributing something transformative for the campus, the neighborhood, and for urban ecology. A commemorative plaque or memorial for the Class of 2008 will be placed.  |
