Life at NYU: There’s Nothing Like It
So endless possibilities are your thing? Then consider the vibrant, eclectic, exciting, multicultural, entertaining, inspiring hub of energy that is NYU. With more than 50,000 students from every corner of the globe living and studying across three campuses, one question never asked here is: “What is there to do today?”
New York City: Snowball Fights, Apps, Strawberries
Are you kidding — it’s New York City! Students here are having snowball fights in Washington Square. Developing apps for the Tech@NYU club. Trying to get up front at the Mystery Concert. Getting take-out of just about any type of cuisine imaginable. Putting on coat drives for New York Cares. And devouring cake at the annual Strawberry Festival. And that’s just on campus. Students are also experiencing one of the world’s great metropolises: New York City.
“There’s no separation between you and the rest of the world. One second you’re on campus, and five steps later, you’re back in the city.” — Josh, NYU student
NYU Abu Dhabi: Awareness, Street Art, Toes in the Sand
Students are running awareness campaigns for war refugees. Attending a painting demonstration featuring the top street artists from the United Arab Emirates. Hitting the slopes at the world-famous Ski Dubai. And studying with their toes in the sand at a nearby beach (well, the campus IS on an island). More about life at NYU Abu Dhabi.
“It took only a few megabytes of my camera's memory card but will spend a lifetime in my own memory.” — Gugandeep Banga, Class of 2019 student photographer on capturing Service Day at NYU Abu Dhabi, where students volunteer to make a difference in the community
NYU Shanghai: The Bund, Project OutReach, Dumplings Galore
Students are strolling among the skyscrapers on the Bund. Studying classical Chinese art at the world renowned Shanghai Museum. Participating in a beautification project at Binjian Forest Park as part of Project OutReach. Stuffing themselves at the annual Dumpling Festival. And competing in a talent show for the Singers, Producers, Songwriters, Musicians club. Learn more about life at NYU Shanghai.
“I never imagined that I would study in China. But during the admitted student weekend, I realized I need to challenge myself — and this is the smartest choice I have ever made in my life. Now I have friends from all over the world.” — Omer Cohen, Class of 2018
Just like the home cities of our three campuses, NYU is a mosaic of different cultures. At any one moment, in any residence hall, classroom, or student center, people from every corner of the globe are creating together, exchanging ideas, and reinventing what it means to be a citizen of the world. Consider, for example, the abundance of viewpoints you'll learn from at NYU's campus in New York, where students represent every U.S. state and over 90 countries — the highest number of international students in America.
New York City: Housing, Dining, Clubs, Internships
NYU is a community of communities. From residence halls to clubs and organizations, these groups will enrich your experience. They’ll help you form lifelong connections with diverse classmates from across the United States and the world.
A number of organizations on campus offer support, guidance, and camaraderie for the broad spectrum of students attending NYU. They include:
NYU's original campus is in New York City, which experienced its lowest crime rate in history, and is frequently now cited as one of America's safest big cities. For more information about campus safety on any of our campuses or global academic centers, take a look at our Campus Security Reports.
