We were humbled this winter after learning that a record-breaking 60,000 students applied to NYU—the largest increase in 15 years. Interest in NYU's new campuses in Abu Dhabi and Shanghai was especially significant, with a 26% rise in applicants to NYU Abu Dhabi and a 31% increase in applications to NYU Shanghai. The University's campus in New York experienced a 14% increase. More than 20 percent of applicants to NYU applied to more than one campus.
NYU now offers a major in Public Policy, offered jointly by the Wagner School of Public Service and the College of Arts and Science. The Tisch School of the Arts also announced 2 new programs:
We continue to improve our summer offerings for high school students at NYU. NYU Precollege remains our signature summer program, but did you know about our 1-week Summer Academy at our School of Professional Studies, or our 1-week, no-charge, College Access Leadership Institute (NYU CALI) for students in under-represented communities?
You can learn more about our array of high school programs by visiting nyu.edu/high-school-programs.
If you or your students have yet to visit our New York City campus, let us come to you! The Institute for International Education recently reported that after 12 years, NYU surpassed the University of Southern California as the leading host for international students, as well as leading the U.S. in sending more of its own students abroad—the first time a university has held both titles since Boston University did the same in 1996.
Nearly 20% of our freshmen are citizens of 92 countries outside the United States, our largest ever international community.
