We are honored you are considering applying to NYU. All freshmen and transfer applicants must complete the Common Application and the NYU Supplement to the Common Application. Applicants are strongly advised to apply online - though you can download a paper copy of the Common Application and NYU Supplement below.

The Common Application and NYU Supplement

You will find the Common Application and NYU Supplement at www.commonapp.org.

If you apply online as we request, you must also complete and submit the online version of the NYU Supplement (also accessible through the Common Application website). Please note:

• Although you may submit your application to NYU before you complete the online NYU Supplement, your application will not actually be released to us until you also complete and submit your supplement online.
• If you apply online, do not complete and/or send in the paper version of the NYU Supplement. If you do so, your online application will not reach us, because it will remain on the Common Application Web site waiting for you to complete the online NYU Supplement. As a result, we will not have a completed application on file for you.
• It is your responsibility to ensure that both your Common Application and NYU Supplement are submitted online successfully. A receipt from the Common Application for your application fee does not mean that you have successfully submitted both the Common Application and NYU Supplement. That receipt only shows that you paid your application fee to the Common Application.

The Paper Common Application and NYU Supplement

If you have limited access to the internet, you can submit a paper copy of the Common Application and the NYU Supplement to the Common Application. Please note:

• You can download a paper copy of the Common Application here.
• Your submitted paper copy of the Common Application must be accompanied by the paper version of the NYU Supplement. You can download the NYU Supplement here.

Application Instructions

You must carefully read the instructions for each application procedure to NYU. We offer freshmen admission, transfer admission, and special admission for visiting and post-graduate admission. Please use the gray navigation bar above to locate the instructions for each application procedure to determine which avenue is most appropriate for you.

Application Fee

Applicants to NYU are expected to pay a non-refundable application fee or request a fee waiver.

Acknowledging and Tracking Your Application and Credentials

We will notify you after we receive your application and credentials to confirm receipt but it will take several weeks to process your application credentials, given the volume of mail we receive. We will aim to provide you with a confirmation of receipt three weeks after your admission deadline and provide you with instructions then on how to track the status of your application credentials online.

Missing Application Credentials

We will inform you of any missing items in your application file. It is your responsibility, however, to make certain that the Office of Undergraduate Admissions receives all of the information required to complete your application.

Supplementary Materials

Unless you are applying to one of the programs that specifically requires an audition or portfolio, DVDs, CDs, the Common Application Arts Supplement, or other samples of your artistic ability are not required for admission, and will not be considered by the committee.  Applicants are explicitly instructed to not submit any additional supplementary materials like books, pictures, newspaper articles, magazine articles, certificates, writing samples, etc. Regretfully, these materials will be discarded upon arrival.
